Second Skin are a typical gothic rock band with traditional vocals, bass, guitar and programmed drums. This kind of music is quite rare nowadays since many such bands now play cheesy metal. This is of course tragic. It is also a reason for me to shine up when I listen to the music of Second Skin since they do it the right way.
The guitars on the album attract me. Typical US gothic sounding they are and sometimes they are more clinging which makes me think of Fields of The Nephilim. The vocalist Arron sounds pretty much like Carl McCoy sometimes does with that tormented kind of singing.
Songs I like in particular on this album are "Sera" which basically is a Fields of The Nephilim ripoff. "Club Sexxx" is a long, slow and dark piece. Very atmospheric, and very good. A couple of the tracks have club hit potential as well.
Second Skin together with all the other good bands from USA show us that the US gothic scene is far ahead of the UK and German scenes today. If you like late 80's gothic rock, this is definately something for you. Recommended!

This disc isn't as good as their newer release but it's good. They know how to write lyrics that are actually quite gritty. They do this without all of the silly metaphor like trappings that many goth acts have done in the past. They remind of why I fell into the goth/deathrock thing in the first place. Dark music.. intense lyrics.. no blips and bleeps.. Hope they're around for a looong time.. Oh and don't compare their lp work with their cleopatra cover songs. I heard their cover of Lets Dance and You spin me around and it sounds nothing like their normal work.

I heard the newest 2nd Skin !!!

This has leaped from the traditional to the ground breaking!! I got a taste of Skin's "Flesh wounds" that seems to be a remix disc of upcoming music, if this is anything like the album, you will hear much about this band.

A great release!

A great gothic product very closer to the forgotten old school of European Gothic Rock...

Very good GOTH!!

I don't think they sound like any other Goth band... I just got the new Cleopatra "Goth Oddities 2000" and love the Second Skin track!
