I never thought I would say this, but The Klinik is genuinely funky. I didn’t realise that until I heard Hours and hours on their live recording from last years Wave Gotik Treffen. Hours and hours is of course not the only great song on this album. Like few bands The Klinik has a back catalogue of great songs, and the whole album is a tour de force that really sets the production of most bands today in perspective. Walking with shadows, Quiet in the room. Black Leather, Plauge, Moving hands, Sleepwalking, Pain and pleasure, the track of great songs just continues. Not many bands have even a fraction of that number of great songs, or the quality. And that, of course, makes a best of live album like this a walking victory. The haunted atmosphere from the old albums is still very present. But it feels like the recording has lost some of the power that was a big part of the actual concert. Of course the album is merely a reminder of how extremely good the concert itself was. But as a reminder, it is a very good one.
