Swedish Dark Ambient act Arcana is celebrating their tenth anniversary with a compilation, which is almost beyond words of description. For starters the digipack cover is really beautiful. One of the kinds you just want to put on a shelf showing all your friends that you own a copy of it. You know what I mean. The content on this album is a collection of various demos, alternative recordings and new songs. Consequently the whole result should be varying in quality too. Should be. That is if Arcana was any ordinary band and Peter Bjärgö was any ordinary producer. Now Mr. Bjärgö is not any ordinary producer, artist, vocalist or whatever. Everything on this album, from the earliest 1994-demos to the latest recordings keeps a quality, which is very impressive. It's hard to say that one song is better than another since everything is so bloody good. But I must say that 'Fade Away' from 1994 made me consider contacting Peter Bjärgö to see if he by chance might have some use of my soul. The best description of the Arcana sound is found in the very booklet of this Album: "The music of Arcana can best be described as beautiful landscapes, wonderful voices and harmonic melodies. Some say it is dark and sorrowful, other say utter beauty beyond words." I agree. If you fancy music described that way, this is not an album you should have. This is a must have!

I agree "The New Light" is amazing stuff, the only problem is that the album is too short like the previous album we got from Arcana a few years ago. Arcana is one of the best Neo Classical bands around.
