The Machines from Norway sticks out from most other bands not just for the fact that they consist of a gay couple Bo Valentin and Halvard Haldorsen but also because they’re collaboration with 80 year old theatre diva Sossen Krogh on two of the tracks where she recites French poets Guillaume Apollinaire and Charles Baudelaire.
And the music Bo and Halvard have created is also very special. Because by mixing together Kraftwerk influenced rhythms, syntpop and homebrew hard electronic rhythms, have the duo created a sound that doesn’t sound like anything else that has been done before.
This is the first album The Machines make and it is in my opinion a very interesting album and I hope it doesn’t take long before Bo and Halvard goes in to the studio and make another one. Because this is a group I definitely want to hear more from.
