Norway strikes back. Again. I must say that there's something special about the music scene over there, but in some strange way there's also something they lack of.
For starters I must say that Pride and Fall gives you as the listener a really good moment with this compact disc. It all begins with a nice VNV-ish intro and move on with a couple of rather hard eurosynth/futurepop songs. My personal opinion is that the genre has really started to dry out, but Pride and Fall fill it with some hope. I spent a couple of hours listening to hear where they got the inspiration from. I find bands such as Apoptygma Berzerk, VNV Nation and Assemblage 23 in their music. There's nothing wrong with that, but I think it gets too obvious sometimes. Why not create something new? Why go with the flow and do something that sells? Why change things?
But let's not forget that Pride and Fall are talented musicians because I think they have put a lot of thought into every arrangement on this CD, and one of the most important things are the vocals that is made with pure excellence by Sigve Monsen.
What about the songs then? First of all I am all randy about the intro called "The approach". Other songs that should be mentioned are "Paragon", "Omniscient", "Extinction means forever" and last but not least "December". Many of these songs are quite speedy and they really give bands like VNV Nation or Covenant a good duel on the dance floors.
If you like to dance or listen to futurepop I really recommend this album. If you don't then I'd say you should get it because I think these guys are about to make something really good of their next album! Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the latest Fancy album is as much futurepop I would like them to be, released in 1999 D.I.S.C.O is a masterpiece...

Probably the best futurepop album released the last couple of years

Probably the best futurepop album released the last couple of years. It has speed, melodies and good choruses. Paragon is one of my favourites and a funny thing that comes to my mind is the singers voice reminding of Fancy :) It would be fantastic to hear a remix of Fancys old hit "Slice me nice" in a Futurepop version :)
