Dither, aka french electroinstrumentalist Marc Titolo, takes a dark approach on his fourth album "Summit". Dark and ambient, but not laidback, it is most definitely not background music we're talking about here. Instead "Summit" tends to be quite disturbing, in every positive aspect of the word. The record builds heavily on atmospheres and melodies, as well as sudden outbursts of rhythm. The rhythms are mainly those one can expect to find in this kind of music, fast, short electronic noises that stays for a minute or perhaps two before it vanishes. Sometimes, mostly towards the end of "Summit" the rhythms gets more distorted, on occasions even a bit digital hardcore-esque.

The album never gets predictable or boring, although 73 minutes perhaps might be a bit too much. "Summit" is most definitely an album, not a bunch of songs put together. The tracks have no names, more than the elapsing time, which is printed out on the back of the cover. And even if the album is separated into ten parts, this separation has very little to do with the music. More than once the theme of a song goes on into a new track, sometimes the tracks even changes in the middle of a chord. Listening to a part, or even worse a "song" is pointless on the verge of being stupid. And there's the problem with the extensive running time again. The album is intended to be seen as a complete whole. And, as a whole, it is very good.

As all good Seekers of Electronica, I had to bye the latest masterpeace of the French Electronica project, Dither. After the excellent Beefcake "höte" & dither "Urei" that i had finded, I could not expect for more than thoses tow perfectly produced albums ! If you seek for good releases, witch is not allways easy, you should have a look at M -Tronic latest Displacer & Dither releases. Anyway, you can also get extra tracks of both Displacer & Dither on the Label webpage to download for free ! Next step will be taken with "Chemical Element 1.0." A collaboration album from polish project Ch.district, & Duuster, project from holland. & i know that more releases will follow like I:Gor or G -NOX & Servovalve albums.
