"In My Mind" is the debut EP from the Swedish EBM duo Z Prochek. On this release we are offered four versions of the title track, "In My Mind", and three other songs. Seven tracks, altogether, is quite okay for an EP, I think. The musical style is modern EBM. In other words, the music is built on hard, dancefloor friendly beats with monotonous, yet catchy melodies. There are some techno elements in the music, I think, but also some influences from older EBM, which is nice.

The title track is a potential clubhit in its original version. The three remixes, though (by Colony 5, Epsilon Minus and Pride and Fall), doesn't, in my opinion, match the quality of the original. The Pride and Fall remix is a bit harder, but it is also more monotonous and becomes tedious after a while. Something that I like about "In My Mind" are the vocals. They are a bit softer and more melodic than in a lot of other music in this genre, presently. Otherwise, this song feels quite typical for modern EBM.

Track five, "Sacrifice Myself", is a song in pretty much the same vein as "In My Mind", although it is even more melodic. It is perhaps not as catchy, but I like it a bit more.

Track six is a cover version of Klinik's "Moving Hands". This is, perhaps not very surprisingly, the hardest song on this EP. It is a good cover I think, since they don't just copy the original, but perform it in their own fashion. Still, I must say I prefer the Klinik version. I seem to lose my focus on the song about halfway through.

The final track is called "One Last Time (Jazzmix)" and this is a quite interesting piece of work. I have no idea how the song sound in its original version, but this version sound like some kind of slow, twisted, mildly distorted "cyberjazz". It gives a very decadent and, above all, strange and unsuspected impression. This is my favourite track on the EP.

Z Prochek show with this debut, that they are a band to reckon with when it comes to modern EBM. They are in many ways quite typical for the genre, but they still have a few things here and there that separates them from similar bands. I would like to here more material , though, before I can decide just how inventive they are. The "Jazzmix" makes me a bit optimistic.

This EP gives good value for your money, though I would have preferred fewer remixes and more new songs. If you are into this kind of music you should definately check this out!
