The musical conservatism of a somewhat blinkered gothic scene made Killing Miranda come to life in 1998. "Transgression By Numbers" is their second album and unlike its precursor "Blessed Deviant", this feels like a more direct work. The band seems to have found their sound this time around.
This new album from Killing Miranda will most likely find its way to the clubs and the gothic dancefloors with its dark danceable songs. It is fast, it is catchy and it is what seems to hit today; goth mixed with elements of electronics, industrial noise and metal. I guess an appropriate label for this kind of music would be neo-goth or post-goth since this seem to be the direction in which many goth bands of today are heading.
Opening track "Discothéque Necronomicon" is a definite floorfiller with its catchy chorus and weird verse. It’s Doubtlessly the highlight of the album, without much competition. Also worth mentioning is the cocky "Teenage Vampire" and the calm "Blood/Seed". The rest of the tracks feel a bit dull in comparison, much due to the boring and unintelligent guitarplay. A bit more energy and creativity added to the metal parts and Killing Miranda could turn out to be somewhat more interesting.
