Tiamat have done some drastical changes compared to the previous album "Wildhoney". The album starts with the up-beat track "Cold Seed". The rest of the album is composed with melancholy and a blend of gothic and electronic equipment. The heavy guitars on Tiamat's earlier albums are gone. Guitars are still present but when distorted they are not an essential part of the song structure. Johan Edlund sings with a monotonous at some parts almost whispering voice.
The album contains many different musical aspects. We have gothic rock in "Cold Seed", the tribal touch of "The Desolate One", the exotic "Four Leary Biscuits" and, my favourite of the album, "Only in My Tears it lasts", which is a slow song about a loss that shows the beauty of electronics. This album is the right way for Tiamat's progression.

defenitely-deeper kind of your slumber is the best stuff Johan hedlund could have ever written
in his goddamned lifetime and nothing he has done later can match up deeperkind. one of the best a dark ambient comtemporary rock on the nineties!!!

Sami, Things are written in a certain context ... so chech the context before posting furious comments. A deeper kind of slumber was reviewed by Martin on June 15, 2000 while the album was released in 97 and timat had already released a newer album in 99. In that context the review was old !!!

"A Deeper Kind..." was released in 97.
Tiamat have a newer album called "Skelton Skeletron" (1999) which is excellent by the way.
