The brain behind Oghr is Nivek Ogre, who also gave Skinny Puppy typical and characteristic vocals. He has got some help from the producer Mark Walk.
The show starts with the excellent "Water". As soon as Nivek opens his mouth, you feel that you are home. Not the usual messy place where your hopeless neighbours terrorize you by playing Ricky Martin or Limp Bizkit at very loud volume. It's rather that really cool place where you can blow your speakers with Skinny Puppy’s "Too Dark Park", without anyone complaining. "Devil" is the next song and I establish that this is that special kind of intelligent electro, which is produced and played far too seldom nowadays! This is not ridiculous, pretentious nor created using any templates whatsoever. The album is characterised by exuberant creativity and music, which is real and alive. No stiff beats nor uniform patterns and the vocals are at least worthy of imitation! Especially in "Chaos”, you have the pleasure to hear Ogre's voice very clearly and it's a true pleasure. All songs are more or less good - well, the crazy "Pore" is an expression of overwhelming creativity, almost on the brink of madness. It could be considered as not so very enjoyable by the more commercially orientated listeners.
I have already said it all - Nivek Ogre is a genius, but that's nothing new! This is a better album than the Rx album he and the brilliant Martin Aitkins did. I can't do anything but recommend this - it's true art and one of the absolute top releases in the year 2001!

The one and truly only real ass-kicker this year happens to be - MINUS

The Prodigy of a Experimental Mind ( just an opinion)

The logical evolution of a talent 80's mind..breaking through past to future with simple but polyphonic sounds...mixtures re-creating stremming passages in Nivek's hands...Brilliant & refresh ideas that Skinny wasn't prepared to dealt with...One of the best Lp's I've ever heard...

When it comes to the good songs, they are really, really good. "Cracker" and "Sleep" are my favorites - the latter gives me the whisker. Some of the other songs don't though reach all the way.

when its good, its awesome.

Nivek is something of a hero isn´t he?. Everybody should by this album and forget the shit that nowadays passes for industrial.
