This is a new compilation from German power noise label Hands productions. 10 artists represented with 3 songs each that gives you a good taste of the label as well as the individual artists. Styles vary from power/rhythmic noise to drum & bass and other electronic beats.
Among the artists that seem really interesting are Syntech which presents 3 tracks, each with a different sound. One almost jazzy piece (!), one drum & bass tune and one more close to pure power noise. 13th Monkey is another favourite with very danceable sounds lying somewhere between gabber and power noise. Often with structures and layers that builds up towards a crescendo. More of this please. 16pad Noise Terrorist presents very good drum & bass/rhythmic noise. The song "Load the X in your head" has a sample of the X-files intro which makes you float away in sweet darkness.
S.k.e.t., Shorai and Geistform are three other bands that I find interesting. S.k.e.t. presents rhythmic noise that sounds rather good. Shorai is chugging electronic noise with a lot of variation even within the songs. Geistform is rather monotonous noise with some good rhythms throughout the songs.
The other bands of the album have various qualities. I'm not so fond of the harsh noise and heavy distortion if it's too monotonous and just consists of scraping sounds. But all in all it's a quite ok compilation and a good introduction to Hands productions that are also always well represented at festivals like Infest and Machinenfest.
