It was a nice French treasure I found when I discovered Punish Yourself about 7 years ago and to my pleasure they still deliver.
The sticker on the cover promises “their most innovating album”, which is a bit strong word.
In opposite to promises, “Pink Panther Party” doesn´t bring much new to the world, to me it sound almost like any of their previous album, which is not bad at all.
How to describe the sound? I think this is how Ministry should have sounded like if they kept developing their industrial branch from “The land of rape and honey” if you just add some attitude from Foetus and mix with some catchy tunes from White zombie.
From the beginning this CD is a wall of heavy guitars and machines. The massive “Shiva only is god”, “The end of the western world” and “Russian lullaby” (to name a few) won't leave anyone in peace.
The second part of the CD gives a more experimental experience like "Deadmeatpetrolium" and my personal favorites "Satan buddies" and "Welcome to now".
Punish yourself rarely play outside France which make me wonder how their management is working. Such an excellent band, both visually and musically disserves a better treatment.
The title of this CD is missing a couple of "P"’s, this is the “Perfect Pink Panther Pre-Party”!
