The Selfcentered Spacecadet is a band from the southern parts of Sweden. The band started as a pop/rock band in 2006 but has evolved into a more electronic based sound in the synth pop region. This record is the fourth single overall and the second on their new label Cynical Minds Recordings. Their first album is scheduled for September.

The title song is a really catchy tune and the refrain is vicious. I find myself humming “We could be killers…” all of a sudden when walking on the streets. This is what’s good with this record.

The two other songs and the three remixes of “Killers” are really sad stories; they shouldn’t have been released at all. The production and arrangements are way below record standard and the band should get themselves a producer. I imagine that the singer wants to sound like Jay-Jay Johanson or Marc Almond, but instead of intense and full of nerve, it sounds just bored and out of tune.

It’s too easy to release an album today. Record at home, start a label and wow it’s done. The scene needs good record labels which must serve as a filter and good producers who can guide the bands in the right directions. Or else there will be no bands like Depeche Mode in the future.
