Get Electrofied 2005
For the first time Memento Materia arranged their own music festival, Get Electrofied. It took place at Mejeriet in Lund, Sweden the 19 of March. Colony 5 and Interlace were two of the bands on stage.
The main event were Colony 5. However first on stage were Militant cheerleaders on the move. A new band from Sweden who takes influences from both DAF, Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 and mixing those to their own sound. Unfortunately they’re not doing very good. It’s not very good and I wonder if they have thought this thru – if they really should do music.
Next were Michigan. Their music is very similar to Depeche Mode. And it’s rather good. But I don’t see them as a live band. Their music is good on CD and I really like Peter Ehns voice – it fits really well to their music. I’m sorry but I have to say it – on stage they are very boring and they didn’t captured the audience at all.
Unfortunately I missed Interlace at Vogon Variety, so my expectations were rather high. And Interlace didn’t make anybody disappointed. One more time Interlace shows that they are one of the leading groups of dark EBM in Sweden. With their rather spectacular stage show the audience got a great show – and great music. And I really liked it.
At midnight Colony 5 entered the stage. And they ruled. With their happy future pop pumping out from the speakers and P-G’s (the singer) energy on stage the temperature at Mejeriet was rising. Colony 5 was the main event for the evening and they didn’t disappoint anyone. I really like this kind of music. And one can see that C5 have fun on stage!
And as very calm ending of this night - Lowe went on stage. I only saw and heard the first three songs – then I went home. Friends of mine told me that Lowe didn’t do the concert of the year. Which I only can interpret in one way.
The sum of the whole evening is that it was a great festival with a lot of happy people (and a lot of friends). Not the event of the year but it was ok. I enjoyed every minute of the evening and I really hope that Memento Materia will do this again next year. And as a bonus from Memento Materia everyone got a mini CD with all the groups that performed.
Unfortunately there where not more than 300 visitors and that should not Memento Materia be satisfied with. Maybe they have to blame themselves – I don’t believe in the concept with only Swedish band – something were missing – a bigger and greater band.
