Run Level Zero - Breaking new ground
Run level zero is one of Sweden’s finest in the genre of hard electronic music. And they have just released their second album, "Walk the psycho[path]".
- The response so far has been very good. I don't think I have read any bad reviews yet, except one Swedish review that wasn't too excited. Now we will see how the audience responds too the new songs, says Hans Åkerman who is the sole man behind RLZ after co-founder Fredrik Solenbergs departure two years ago.
The main difference between the new album and their debut is that this time it is Hans alone who has written the music. But he thinks he has got a great input from a number of people in creating the tracks. For the first time the band has also got help from an external producer, Kristian Pettersson who previously has produced acts like Cat rapes Dog, S.P.O.C.K and Elegant Machinery.
- I am very pleased with his contributions, and will probably use him again on the next album, says Hans.
The band has also a brand new live crew. Today Ville Hising helps out on keyboards and Ola Sundell on percussion when Hans is taking charge over the microphone.
- Ola is the drummer in a kletzmerband, so that might work out good, says Hans.
Live they will play tracks both from "Walk the psycho[path]" as well as the debut "symbols of submission".
- We try to play as much as possible live, even if we have to use a backtrack. I think few electronic bands can do without that.
On the forthcoming gigs Hans promises that the audience will see a band that gives everything they got.
- The audience shall have an experience from the concert. Otherwise they might as well have stayed at home and listened to the record. Another thing with playing live is to get out and meet the audience, and perhaps have a beer with them.
With the new album, the band has also been licensed to the label Minuswelt and that is a huge step into the German market for RLZ.
- We haven't had any good distribution in Germany before. It is an important market and Minuswelt have opened it up for us. They have sent a few hundred copies of our new album to dj's and got the video to K.A.D.O on German television. As well as organizing our upcoming tour in Europe.
In October they will tour Europe together with Assemblage 23 and Rotersand.
- The dates aren't set yet, but it should be one month on the autobahn (Dates are set. See Run Level Zero homepage for dates. /Editors note). In time for the tour we will release a new EP with remixes and a few new tracks.
- I shall be really fun to come to Germany again and play. After that there should be a new album ready for release next year.
