Monitor Festival 2009
A small swedish festival was this weekend held on a boat in Stockholm.
A very nice surprise this summer was the Monitor Festival. The Swedish legends "En Halvkokt i Folie", I'm not even going to try to translate that into English, but it has to do with a hot dog (I hope) opened this evening, delivering their weirdness as they have done for so many years now. Combining noises with beats and guitars and all sorts of other instruments with Swedish lyrics.
Next band on stage was "The Pain Machinery" which delivered a more straight forward electro punk kind of harsh music and they delivered an excellent show with lots and lots of energy and hard beats.
After this explosion of energy it was time for "Run Level Zero" to have their 10th year anniversary show. Hard hitting EBM right in the face. They gave us a long show filled with old and new stuff.
Last but certainly not least it was time for "Container 90" to just take the last of our strength and just maim it into oblivion. Sweaty old school EBM with that punk touch to it that's makes it so perfect. The slam dancing was a fact and I'm sure many guys and girls are pretty sore today after this energy filled festival.
A perfect little festival in a perfect venue indeed, even if the venue only takes 100 people and I hope the people behind it decides to make a second coming of this.
